"The secret of getting ahead is getting started" -Mark Twain

AND SO THE ADVENTURE BEGINS 🇨🇦

What made you decide to live a life in a foreign land?

Why Canada?

How did you do it?

I actually had no answer to these questions at first because I just merely wanted to travel and experience a different world. But eventually I realised that I want to have my own adventure on my road to success. I felt like chasing my dream of becoming independent would be more meaningful if I really start from scratch, and being in this wonderful journey taught me how to be grateful of every blessing that I receive.

Why Canada you ask?

Simply because I Fell Inlove with the country and the way of living of its people. To be honest, going abroad was never a plan I considered for myself but hey! Expect the unexpected!. This country has so much to offer that they even generously opened their gates to the world in various pathways; in my case I started my journey as an International Student.

How did I do it?

Sooo now I will be talking about MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE and add some suggestions I got through working in Niagara College International Office with our International Student Advisors.

I. First: English Proficiency Exam

Usually, some people prefer starting by looking for a school they wanted and apply first before they submit their documents. But in my case I did the other way around; TOEFL first then SCHOOL HUNTING. I did it this way because I wanted to take off the pressure on my shoulders of having to write the exam to be admitted in a school. I found myself more at ease or relaxed by accomplishing one of the requirements first then eventually look for a school that will accept me.

There are different English proficiency tests, namely:

So, I would suggest do your research and then decide which of these will the school accept or which will be more comfortable for you to take.

II. School Hunting

I had 2 options on how to look for a school:

a. Search Online

b. Attend a School fair that consists of Schools across Canada: EduCanada Fair

*I did both :)

I ended up finding a school through option B. That event is where I found Niagara College Canada, then everything else was destiny.,.

haha Charr! Love life? LOL

Kidding Aside

I enjoyed the event and it made me feel more motivated to study abroad because I got to experience one on one sessions with each school and was able to gain a lot of useful information.

III. Submit an Application

So since Im very new with the whole thing I decided to go to an Agency and have them process my papers from applying to School up to processing my Student Visa..

BUT

When I started working in the International Office of Niagara College, I became knowledgeable on how the whole process takes place. So here are the things I know

  1. Apply online to a school you want

  2. Wait for the letter of Acceptance: once you received it have it on PDF file

  3. Go to CIC website and make a CIC account: Write your Username and PW.. Never loose it because you will use it in the future as well

  4. Apply to Come to Canada then Choose the option with STUDENT in it

  5. Answer the questions truthfully: make sure to read the questions carefully

  6. There will be a list of documents you need to provide so upload them in your ongoing application

  7. Once you’re done, click submit, Pay and WAIT for the results.

  8. Check your CIC account regularly for they will contact you through your CIC account

*For more specific questions, I will be making a forum about this and we can discuss it there OR you can chat here then I will reply later on ;)

IV. Fly to Canada and Start your Adventure of a lifetime

When everything is good and you got approved just follow the instructions they will provide you on an email through your CIC account then VIOALA!!! BOOK A FLIGHT!!!

This may look simple but in RIAlity it is not… Ready yourself to face a whole lot of stress but enjoy the process. It will come handy for you in the future. It will also give you the feeling of fulfilment.

I will gladly entertain your questions and will try my very best to answer them on my forum..

GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS…
